Work Experience

During my time at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, I worked as a Senior Financial Analyst in the Department of Medicine, which encompasses over 20 medical divisions, including General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, and others. While I was part of the finance team, I worked closely with the operations group and collaborated with division administrators across all specialties. This collaboration gave me unique insight into the day-to-day operations and challenges faced by each division, such as inefficient processes, provider shortages, long wait times for appointments, and excessive costs. Additionally, I worked closely with upper management, including the Department Chair, Vice Chair, and Directors of both Finance and Operations. These experiences gave me a comprehensive understanding of the operational and financial complexities within a major healthcare organization.

Witnessing these challenges firsthand inspired me to pursue a Ph.D. in Operations Management, with a focus on healthcare operations and solutions like telemedicine. My ultimate goal is to improve population health by enhancing access to care and operational efficiency, while also preserving the well-being of healthcare providers. This means not overburdening already stretched providers with additional responsibilities, but rather finding ways to streamline operations that benefit both patients and practitioners. My research now centers on addressing these critical challenges to build more efficient healthcare systems that achieve better health outcomes without compromising provider wellness.
